A two-level shopping and entertainment centre in the heart of Tamworth's CBD - supermarket, cinema, bowling alley, 400 seat theatre and 330 covered car parks across about 6,000 square metres.
Centrepoint is a two-level commercial expansion in the heart of Tamworth's CBD precinct, at 374 Peel Street. Covering approximately 6,000 square metres of floor space, it brings shopping, entertainment and family services together under one roof: a supermarket, specialty shops, a cinema centre, a bowling alley, a 400 seat lyric theatre, a childcare centre and a food court.
The aim was a major shopping and entertainment destination in the middle of town, with 330 covered car parking spaces to make it easy to visit. The centre is now owned by Intergen Property Group, which acquired it in 2017.
Segboer Constructions delivered Centrepoint on a budget of $31 million, with works starting in early 2007 and the centre opening in 2010. The two-level design brings the supermarket, specialty shops, cinema centre, bowling alley, lyric theatre, childcare centre and food court together with 330 covered car parking spaces.
Scale was a big part of this job. Over 1,700 concrete trucks visited the site during construction. A project of this size, with so many different uses under one roof, calls for careful planning and staging so each part of the centre could be built properly for what it would be used for.
The result is a landmark centre in the heart of Tamworth's CBD, giving the city a place to shop, eat, see a film, catch a show and go bowling, all in the one location with covered parking. It's a major project for Segboer Constructions to have been part of, and a centre that continues to serve the Tamworth community.
